I have 17 years of experience in Programming and Data Science working for big tech companies like NVIDIA and Bloomberg. I also run a famous YouTube channel called Codebasics where I pursue my passion for teaching. Optimize report size by performing instrumentation through a tool called DAX studio.
Yes, it could save space but it has other disadvantages.
- Building DAX measures for this case is a bit more complex than the calculated column.
- DAX measures are executed every time you click or change something on a visual which consumes more memory and can impact report performance.
This is the reason we used a combination of both as discussed in the first lecture of this chapter.
