Pursuing Data Analytics
Hello everyone, Abhinavan here! As a LinkedIn content creator with a passion for data analytics, I recently had the opportunity to enroll in the Code Basics Data Analytics Boot Camp. Having completed the first part of the course, which focused on Excel and covered around 60% of the curriculum, I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with all of you.
In a nutshell, I found the Code Basics Data Analytics Boot Camp to be an incredibly interesting and valuable learning experience. Here are some key highlights and observations from my journey so far:
1. Engaging and Well-Structured Content:
The course content is well-organized and delivered in a clear and concise manner. The instructors have a knack for breaking down complex concepts into easily understandable modules, which made it easy for me to grasp the fundamental concepts of data analysis using Excel.
2. Practical Approach:
One aspect that truly stood out to me was the emphasis on practical application. Rather than solely focusing on theory, the course provided numerous real-world examples and hands-on exercises that allowed me to immediately apply the concepts I learned. This practical approach greatly enhanced my understanding of data analytics and its applications.
3. Comprehensive Coverage of Excel:
The first part of the course, which primarily focused on Excel, covered a wide range of topics. From basic functions and formulas to advanced data manipulation techniques, I felt well-equipped with the necessary skills to handle data efficiently within Excel. The instructors provided step-by-step instructions and shared useful tips and tricks that helped me become more proficient in working with spreadsheets.
4. Supportive Community and Resources:
Throughout the course, I had access to a vibrant community of fellow learners. The Code Basics platform facilitated active discussions, enabling me to engage with like-minded individuals and seek help whenever needed. The instructors were also prompt in responding to queries and providing clarifications, creating a supportive learning environment.
5. Motivating and Inspiring Instructors:
The instructors' passion for data analytics was evident in their teaching style. Their enthusiasm and dedication to helping students succeed were truly inspiring. They shared their own experiences and provided valuable insights into the industry, which helped me see the practical applications of data analytics beyond the course.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Code Basics Data Analytics Boot Camp, especially the part focusing on Excel, to anyone interested in acquiring fundamental data analysis skills. The course offers a solid foundation and equips learners with practical knowledge that can be immediately applied in various professional settings.
As I progress through the rest of the boot camp, covering topics such as Python, SQL, and data visualization, I am confident that my knowledge and skills in data analytics will continue to grow. I look forward to sharing more updates and insights with you all in the future.

Halfway through the course and it's going great! I love Dhaval sir's positive, friendly, and can do attitude which beginners may find to be encouraging. I also love the little videos scattered throughout the course regarding mentoring advice as well as the introduction of Peter Panday as a character (Makes the course entertaining and unique).
Edit:
Having now completed the course and gained a valuable language under my skillset, I am one step closer to my dream job in data analytics. I have 3 key takeaways I would like to share from this course:
1. I understood how SQL is used in the industry through activities like Ad hoc analysis, report generation, EDA, machine learning, ETL, data migration, and inside BI tools.
2. The course provided really useful tips for job search, and how learning necessary skills, honing skills through projects, preparing resumes, preparing for interviews, and applying to the job are pieces of the puzzle. Personally, the one thing I haven't been doing enough of is building a personal brand and network, and hope to work on this in near future by being active in my university student societies regarding data analytics and computer science. Who knows, maybe one day I'll get a job through a referral.
3. Most importantly, I had fun.
I understand that the technical knowledge introduced in the course like how to setup/query a database, table joins, functions, stored procedures, subqueries, CTEs, Temporary tables, and Views are all important in gaining SQL as a skill, but if you look at my 3 key takeaways, they were all soft skills, or gaining a high-level perspective of the language. Technical skills and soft skills go hand in hand.
I would like to thank and appreciate Dhaval sir, Hemanand sir, and Code Basics for putting out this engaging and entertaining course and helping us all learn new skills.
