What's This Workshop About?
This workshop takes you from zero to a working AI agent in 60 minutes, using plain Python instead of an agent framework. You'll learn about the core building blocks behind modern AI agents and understand how frameworks implement the ReAct loop under the hood.
What You'll Do
🔹 Understand AI Agents from First Principles: Break down how an agent works using a simple reasoning and action loop.
🔹 Build with Plain Python: Implement tools, memory and the agent loop without relying on frameworks.
🔹 See What Frameworks Hide: Understand the abstractions behind popular agent frameworks by building the underlying components yourself.
🔹 Build Your First AI Agent: Put everything together to create a working agent in a single 60-minute hands-on session.
What You'll Gain
✅ A clear mental model of how AI agents actually work
✅ Hands-on experience building an agent without framework abstractions
✅ An understanding of tools, memory, agent loops, and evals as the core building blocks of agentic systems
✅ A practical foundation for using agent frameworks with a deeper understanding of what happens under the hood
Prerequisites
📌 Basic familiarity with Python programming
📌 Basic understanding of LLMs and how to use an LLM API
📌 No prior experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or other agent frameworks is required
